Friday April 13th was a very lucky day for everyone in Fort Wayne, who were lucky enough to acquire free tickets, for the 98.9 The Bear, customer appreciation show at Piere's where they were blown away by a concert with Slagg, and headlining Egypt Central. The day started off with a meet and greet at Grade A Tattoos, in the Market Place of Canterbury. It was hard to get a count, but the lobby was full for the two hours that John, Heath, Joey, Jeff, and Blake, were meeting, and signing CD's. Pictures and anything you wanted signed. The group has a lot of younger fans that can not get in Piere's to hear the band live, so that gave them a chance to meet this warm, caring, wonderful group of guys called Egypt Central.
Grade a Tattoos has developed a friendship that started last year when we wanted a band to judge an ugly tattoo contest. We had seen them earlier in the year when they opened for Candlebox, at Piere's, and their band stole the show. So we asked this young, energetic, very talented band to judge our tattoo contest, while they in the Fort opening for Dropping Daylight, and Crossfade. We again got to their opening act, and once again they stole the show. John Falls has an awesome voice, Joey is an outstanding bass player, and never stops moving on stage, The strikingly handsome Heath is truely a remarkable guitarist, Jeff's talent is amazing on the guitar, and Blake, is unstoppable talented drummer, holding everything together.
When they came back for Piere's Electric Christmas, some of the people at Grade A were invited to Band Room at Piere's to hang out with the guys, and watch the show from the balcony. This time they opened for RA and Salvia, and had another outstanding performance, for the delight of the many fans that had seen them before, and for the new fans that fell in love with their music.
Egypt Central is the only unsigned band in the seventy year history of The New Daisy Theater, to have a sold out concert. Everywhere they go, weather it be Floyd,s in Florida, Thunders, in Miss, or the Machine Shop in Mi, people are crazy about the group, and their music.
On Friday, Grade A was lucky enough, to have the V.I.P. room to watch the show. If you have never been in the V.I.P. room, with its leather couches and chairs, overlooking the million dollar stage, with your very own bartender, and security guard, than you do not know what you are missing. From the best seats in the house we got to see the greatest concert ever given by Egypt Central. It was outstanding from the first song to the last song "you make me sick". They nailed it. It was awesome, they never missed a beat, and every song was that much better than the last one. Along with our Grade A's family and friends we were joined by all the staff at 98.9 The Bear, the greatest radio station, in the world. It was an unforgettable concert, by the unforgettable band called Egypt Central. And a special thank you to 98.9 The Bear's own Turner for getting his tattoo, while the meet and greet was taking place.
