JACQUE MADE A TRIP TO MEMPHIS, AND SINCE SHE OWN THIS WEBSITE. SHE IS WRITING A BLOG AND I KNOW BLOGS BELONG ON MYSPACE, BUT SHE IS MAKING AN EXCEPTION TO THE RULE!!! I HAVE SEEN EGYPT CENTRAL IN PERSON, SIX TIMES,AND THEY CONTINUE TO BLOW ME AWAY. I HAVE HAD THEM JUDGE AN UGLY TATTOO CONTEST, JUST A YEAR AGO, WHEN THEY WERE IN THE FORT WITH DROPPING DAYLIGHT, AND OUR FRIENDS, CROSFADE. I WAS IN THE BAND ROOM, WHEN THEY CAME BACK TO PIERE'S ELECTRIC CHRISTMAS, WITH SALIVA, AND RA. I HAD A MEET AND GREET, FOR THE BEARS 98.9 F.M. CUSTOMER APPRECIATION SHOW, FOR EGYPT CENTRAL. I GOT TO FEED THEM IN AUBURN INDIANA, AT FIRE MOUNTAIN RESTAURANT, WHEN THEN STOPPED IN WHILE ON TOUR, IN AUGUST. THE NEXT NIGHT, THEY PLAYED AT HARRYS HIDEAWAY, IN LIMA OHIO, AND I GOT TO SEE THAT SHOW TOO. THEY WILL BE AT THE DEKALB COUNTY FAIR, ON SEPT. 28TH BUT I WANTED TO SEE THEM IN THEIR HOMETOWN, SO A TRIP TO MEMPHIS WAS IN ORDER!!!! EGYPT CENTRAL ROCKED!! Some bands sound as good live as they do on their CDs...most don't. Egypt Central is a very rare band indeed because they are EVEN BETTER live!! I just saw them on their own turf at the New Daisy Theater in Memphis and it was the most amazing show I've ever seen (and I've seen a gajillion!). First of all, the songs are poetic yet they rock hard. Second of all, the energy that these guys generate onstage must be seen to be believed. They are all over the stage, sweating their asses off, working hard and having fun. I was front row, center, and it was like being on the tracks with a freight train speeding right at me. Hit me, PLEASE. LOL In addition to being fantastic song writers and accomplished musicians, these guys are just plain NICE. They were in the club before and after the show, talking to everyone, taking pics, signing autographs. This band has the talent to be HUGE, and they deserve it. BUY THEIR CD NOW!!!! I also had the most amazing time with Lyn (who flew in from Arizona) and Kimberly (aka Malice) and her husband Carl, who is THE MAN. We partied hard, committed a (minor)crime, got away with it, LOL THANK YOU ladies, and Carl, for an experience to remember. When are we doing it again?? Also need to thank Heath's family for being so gracious, meeting us before the show, and buying us a drink. Now, here is your assignment: go to www.egyptcentral.net and BUY THEIR CD. If you regret it, I will personally refund you double your money. TRUST ME!!! As an added bonus, I also got to SEE Anthony and Mike from Joan Red, an up-and-coming Memphis band that rocks hard.
