Why aftercare matters

How laserhealing works.

Laser tattoo removal works by breaking ink particles beneath the skin into smaller fragments. Your body then absorbs and eliminates those fragments over the following weeks. The fading is gradual, and each session builds on the last.

That's why the time between appointments matters as much as the appointment itself. After each session, the treated area needs 6–8 weeks to heal while your immune system keeps flushing ink. Good aftercare during that window protects your skin and keeps your treatment plan on track, whether your goal is complete removal or fading for a cover-up.

Our technicians use precise settings to target ink while preserving the surrounding skin, and with proper aftercare, scarring is rare. Your part is simple: be gentle with the area, keep it protected, and keep your appointments on schedule.

Session to session

Laser aftercare,step by step.

01

Right after your session

Your technician will go over aftercare for your specific treatment before you leave. Follow those instructions first; they are tailored to your tattoo, your skin, and the settings used that day.

02

The days that follow

Treat the area gently. Keep it clean, wash your hands before touching it, and avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. Most clients go back to their normal routine the same day.

03

Between sessions

Give your skin the full 6–8 weeks to heal while your immune system continues flushing broken-down ink. Protect the area from sun and tanning, especially in the two weeks before your next visit.

04

Before your next appointment

Avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks. Shave the treatment area, avoid blood thinners and anti-inflammatory medications, and arrive with clean skin free of lotions or products.

Questions

Laser aftercareFAQ.

How long does it take to heal after laser tattoo removal?

We schedule sessions 6–8 weeks apart. That gives the treated skin time to heal fully while your immune system continues to flush away the broken-down ink. Downtime is minimal and most clients return to normal activities the same day.

What should I do right after a laser session?

Follow the aftercare instructions your technician gives you at the end of your session. They are specific to your tattoo and treatment. In general, keep the area clean, touch it only with clean hands, and don't pick or scratch the treated skin.

Can I go in the sun after laser tattoo removal?

Protect the treated area from the sun and avoid tanning between sessions. Before every treatment we ask you to avoid sun exposure and tanning for 2 weeks, so keeping the area covered between visits keeps you on schedule.

Will laser tattoo removal scar?

When performed by trained technicians with proper aftercare, laser tattoo removal rarely results in scarring. Following your aftercare instructions and keeping proper intervals between sessions is part of that.

Why do I have to wait 6–8 weeks between sessions?

We enforce minimum healing periods between sessions so your skin recovers fully and results are maximized. Your body also keeps clearing ink during that time, so the wait is part of the fading process.

Who do I call if something doesn't look right?

Call our Clinton studio at (260) 485-8258, where laser treatments are performed. If you have a fever, red streaks, worsening swelling, or another rapidly worsening symptom, contact a healthcare professional right away. For difficulty breathing or facial swelling, call 911.
