Fort Wayne tattoo shop

Fort Wayne’stattoo shop since 1999.

Grade A Tattoos & Body Piercing has been tattooing Fort Wayne since 1999, and readers of the Fort Wayne Newspapers have voted us the Best Tattoo Shop in Fort Wayne every year since 2014. With two Fort Wayne studios, our original flagship on North Clinton Street and our studio inside Glenbrook Square, plus a third shop at Castleton Square in Indianapolis, we have more than 16 tattoo artists under one name. That depth means you are never forced to settle for an artist who doesn’t specialize in the style you want.

Custom tattoo designs, drawn for you

Every custom tattoo starts with a conversation. Your artist listens to the story behind the piece, looks at your references, and considers the placement, size and how the design will flow with your body. From there they draw an original design, and revisions are part of the process. Whether you want a memorial portrait, a script tattoo, a fine line floral piece, a traditional flash design or a full sleeve that will take several sessions, the design is made for you and nobody else.

Tattoo artists in Fort Wayne for every style

Our Fort Wayne tattoo artists cover realism and portraits, black and grey, American traditional, neo-traditional, fine line and micro tattoos, blackwork, lettering, anime and manga, and bold color work. Browse artist portfolios or the tattoo gallery to find the hand that matches your idea. Have an old tattoo you want to hide? Our cover-up specialists work with laser tattoo removal to fade stubborn ink first.

Clean, safe and licensed

Every tattoo is done with single-use needles, fresh ink caps, barrier-wrapped equipment and hospital-grade autoclave sterilization. Our studios meet or exceed Allen County health department requirements, and every artist holds current certifications. You will leave with written aftercare instructions and a team that answers questions while you heal.

Questions

Fort Wayne tattooFAQ.

Answers to the questions we hear most from first-timers and collectors alike.

How much does a tattoo cost in Fort Wayne?

Every tattoo is different, so pricing depends on the size, detail, placement and time your piece needs. We don’t quote prices online: your artist talks it through with you at your free consultation, once they understand what you want.

Do you take walk-in tattoos in Fort Wayne?

Yes. Walk-ins are welcome at both Fort Wayne studios, on North Clinton Street and inside Glenbrook Square, seven days a week based on artist availability. Small and flash tattoos are the best fit for a walk-in; larger custom work is best booked ahead.

How old do you have to be to get a tattoo in Indiana?

You must be 18 or older with a valid government-issued photo ID to get tattooed at Grade A Tattoos. Call the studio ahead of time if you have questions about age or ID requirements.

Can I bring my own tattoo design?

Absolutely. Bring sketches, photos, Pinterest boards or screenshots. Your artist will redraw and adapt the idea so it fits your body, ages well and is original to you. We do not copy another artist’s custom tattoo line for line.

How do I choose the right tattoo artist?

Start with style. Browse our artist portfolios and gallery, and pick the artist whose realism, black and grey, traditional, fine line, anime or color work matches what you want. If you are unsure, call the studio and we will match you with the right specialist.

Do I need a deposit to book a tattoo appointment?

Some appointments require a non-refundable deposit to hold your time, and it is applied to the final cost of your tattoo. Deposit requirements and amounts are confirmed when you book.

How long does a tattoo take to heal?

The surface of most tattoos heals in 2–4 weeks, while the deeper layers of skin continue settling for a few months. Follow our tattoo aftercare guide, keep it out of pools and direct sun, and moisturize lightly while it peels.

Does getting a tattoo hurt?

Some discomfort is normal. Fleshy areas like the outer arm and thigh tend to hurt least, while ribs, feet, hands and spine are more sensitive. Eat a meal beforehand, stay hydrated and tell your artist if you need a break.

Do you offer touch-ups?

If a spot needs attention after your tattoo has fully healed, contact the artist who did your work. Touch-up policies vary by artist and depend on how the tattoo was cared for while healing.
